About me...
It was clear early on in my life that I had a heart for helping people. I loved to listen to people’s stories and each one mattered to me. This is true today and has been for the past 30 years as a professional counselor. Early in my career, I worked with adults in recovery. This transitioned into being a school counselor where I supported staff, teachers, children and families. After 20 years in schools, I became trained as a Personal Development Coach and began leading women’s retreats alongside developing a private practice. My approach to healing is holistic, addressing the mind, body, soul and spirit in who God created us to be. I integrate best practices such as Interpersonal Neurobiology, Attachment, Somatic, Mindfulness, Intimacy Therapy, Life Model and Immanuel (an inner healing tool). Counseling can be a journey that is hard, and at times painful, involving stress, anxiety, loss and hurt. However, I truly believe we can be restored to living life from a place of peace and joy.
I know this firsthand because of my own journey. I have lived a very full life. I was married for 28 years and had a marriage full of victories and struggles. In our early years, we encountered many challenges but we fought hard to restore our marriage. Through counseling, we learned how to live life from a place of love, peace and great joy. And then the unexpected happened. In 2021, I became a widow. I share this because I want you to know that even in the midst of pain, there can still be hope, peace, love and joy. I still find delight in nature, hiking, being by and in water, going on adventures, playing games and most of all, being with my teenage daughter. Life is a journey we are privileged to live. I look forward to walking alongside you and providing you with tools to live life more fully, engaged and embodied.
I will be leading a 4-week course on Practicing Presence beginning in October.
